A wind advisory for portions of Maui County remains in effect through 6 a.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

There are easterly trade winds blowing 15 to 30 miles per hour with localized gusts of more than 50 mph. Winds will shift to the northeast tonight as a cold front moves through the island chain.

Those under the advisory are portions of Maui, Lanai, Molokai and Kahoolawe.

The winds may be able to tear off shingles and knock down holiday decorations and tree branches. Strong gusts can make it difficult to steer, especially for drivers of high profile vehicles.
